Pollutants

The fashion industry is a major source of destructive pollutants at scale. Leather production generates toxic effluents that create river ‘death zones’. Synthetic textiles introduce harmful microplastics into the environment, contributing an estimated 8% of primary microplastics into the oceans. Conventional dyeing and finishing of fabrics consumes excessive volumes of water and releases pollution that fuels algae blooms.
