Textile Waste

In fashions value chain, approximately 92 million tonnes of textiles are wasted by consumers annually, a significant portion of the 100 billion of the garments produced each year

Less than 1% garments are recycled into new fibers and 85% of textiles ends up in landfills or incinerators.

Compounding this waste problem is a manufacturing process that creates additional pre-consumer waste. Kelptex combines textile waste and seaweed to create a biofabric that is durable, biodegradable, and completely recyclable.  The introduction of Kelptex’s biofabric into the fashion industry resolves many of the environmental challenges that the sector generates today.
